L'maan Yezamercha
(1989)

This recording, Ira's first, was done together with the famed Israeli composer and arranger, Moshe Laufer.  It reflects the modern Chassidic style, with a full Classical orchestral backing.  Recorded in both Israel and New York, it established Ira as a new quality voice in Jewish Music with a very original style.
Shortly after the release of "L'maan Yezamercha," two of Ira's songs, "Atah Hareita" and "Sameach" made it onto the Israeli Hit Parade.  His voice also became a regular staple of Jewish Radio in the New York area.
Ira's depth and sensitivity is clearly reflected in his song "We Are Not Alone," which he wrote after a visit to the military cemetery at Mt. Hertzl in Jerusalem.  After noticing an elderly woman who was there all by herself, he discovered that the name on the stone was "Cohen" (Priest), which gave root to this touching and inspiring song about her.  This song, which beautifully tells the story, was just a precursor to many other such songs by Ira.
